Managerial Openings: Predictions

Rockies: I really think they’re going to use a variety of the candidates in a combination role. Matt Williams had a good interview today, and some Rockies fans might want a change. The most exciting hire, one that will stir up a floundering fan base, would be that of Jason Giambi and that’s who I’m predicting ultimately gets the job. They’ll want some experience with him, so Tom Runnells will get the bench coach job, with Walt Weiss being offered some job within the organization though he may return to high school coaching if he doesn’t get the top job.

Blue Jays: They have been slow to the party. They will continue to be slow to the party. It might be until the Winter Meetings. Today, retread Art Howe stated his interest in managing the Blue Jays. Yuck. They’ve also spoken to Williams, as well as Tim Wallach. It’s the one they haven’t yet talked to that makes the most sense. Why is the search taking so long, and why haven’t they spoken to Sandy Alomar, Jr. yet? Not sure, but ultimately I still feel he’ll get the job.
